Assessing Capacity

Assessing capacity is part and parcel of being a doctor. A patient's ability to make a decision with regard to treatment is central to the interaction between doctor and patient, and affects the care you provide.  

Hosted by the MDU's medico-legal advisors, the session will cover the steps to take when assessing a patient's capacity to make a decision regarding their treatment and other key areas: 

 - Covering practical steps to take to help a patient make decisions themselves 

- Looking at the MCA two-stage assessment for capacity
